Sandy Norbo

Running three to five miles everyday was never a challenge for 59-year-old Sandy Norbo. Living in Asheville, N.C., she loved to run outside and when she was diagnosed with arthritis, she quickly realized that regular exercise would help to relieve her pain. Working out helped Norbo function better, not only physically, but mentally as well.

That all changed last year when Norbo encountered joint and nerve problems in her right leg as a result of her arthritis. Collapsing twice while running on the treadmill, she knew it was too dangerous for her to continue.

After trying several different exercise machines, Norbo discovered that using the elliptical cross-trainer felt the most natural and similar to running for her. Almost 60, Norbo works out every single day on the Life Fitness elliptical cross-trainer that she purchased for her home. 

“I was devastated, thinking that I could no longer run; I would be miserable,” said Norbo. “Thankfully, I found the Life Fitness elliptical cross-trainer. It not only changed it my life, I honestly feel it saved my life.”

As a result of her story Norbo, was recognized by Life Fitness and was awarded as a winner in the company’s annual “I Live It!” campaign. This program celebrates individuals who demonstrate a commitment to lifelong health and well-being.
